Chiltern Hills Figgy Fun Run – Sunday 31st August 2019
Words Kevin Fagan Pictures Kevin & Julie Janes
Saturday 31st August 2019. 13 cars turned up yesterday to enjoy a fun drive around the Chiltern Hills. We met at Dunstable Downs (near Luton) where Pam & john Heath had pre-arranged parking for our little cars and enjoyed the stunning views and refreshments. Starting off around 11.00 the route included Whipsnade Zoo, Ashridge where we parked and walked around the monument, then onto Aldbury referred to as a Chocolate Box Village used in many films.
We then headed on towards Tring and Marsworth which is the place of the notorious Great Train Robbery. Stopping for lunch at a lovely farm shop, then on towards Ivanhoe and back to Dunstable Downs Visitors Centre and park back at the specified Car Park. A few of us braved the winds and tried to fly our kites until the heavens opened!
Thanks to everyone who attended, Pam & John Heath for creating the routes and Julie Janes for printing them off!
