Boot – Top Boot Lift Tag
One of the issues owners have when raising/closing the roof or accessing the top boot is trying to lift the lid. In most cases, the car’s gas struts which should assist in raising the boot and create a small gap are the original which means they do nothing meaning you have to insert your fingers into the gap to pull the boot lid up.
ADD A TAG
A simple solution is to add a small leather tag which allows you to grip and lift without losing any more fingernails! On Amazon, we found a £3.99 low-cost solution by buying a handbag replacement strap, drilling (or cutting) a 12mm hole and inserting it into the strut bracket Click here. We found some in deterrent colours but with a bit more searching you could try and match the body colour.
REPLACE THE TWO GAS STRUTS
We still strongly recommend changing the gas struts especially if your car has a rear boot rack, see my video of how to fit with links on where to buy. Click here
Below are a few pictures from a recent meeting where Linda Hall had done exactly this (thanks Linda).
