Sixth Figaro After Summer Tour – Sunday 29th September 2024

Words and Pictures Pascal & Joyce

For the 2024 edition of the Figaro After Summer Tour we went back to the traditional last Sunday of September. We chose the very central part of the Netherlands, the province of Utrecht! The National Park, Utrechtse Heuvelrug, gave us so many nice roads that fit our Figgy’s well.

We started the day in Bistro/restaurant “Brocante “in Doorn with a good cup of coffee and pie and a small briefing with all the information for the day.  As the insurance rules for days like this have been tightened, we had to think about other fun events during the day, and judging by all the smiles on the faces during the test, I think I may say we succeeded in that.

We started with a small test for the navigator. We gave the navigator 2 balls and the different goals to hit, all with different points to score. Some of the navigators were hanging right out of the car window to get closer to the goals!

Then the morning puzzle drive for 44 Miles started with a checkpoint halfway.

The beautiful roads over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug brought them back to Brocant for a magnificent lunch and a small quiz with questions about the area, Nissan, the Nissan Figaro and some well-known people, born in Utrecht. The most difficult question was; Why is the number 23 so special for Nissan? Do you know the Answer?

Just before the start of the second drive for another 37 miles, we had a small test for the driver, how well do they know their Figaro? Start driving and stop after exactly one wheel turn. Sounds easy, but trust us, not easy at all.

The day ended with a small drink and bite again at Bistro Brocante with prices for the three best all over:

  • 1st Martin & Whyneke, 2nd Ruud & Angelique and 3rd Jan & Ilona
  • The furthest travelled went to Johan & Maureen from Heist aan Zee, Belgium 146 miles
  • The best Figaro of the day was won by Martin & Dennis with their Pale Aqua in excellent condition.

We ended the day with a big ‘THANK YOU’ for Figarocars, being our sponsor and the technical support during the day, and Young Ho for designing our rally shield for all six years now!

As a small souvenir from our sponsor ‘Timp Bookshop’ for this lovely day, we gave all the teams a book from the world-famous, born in Utrecht, Miffy. Special about this book, it was all in Utrechts Dialect.

There was still a possibility to stay for dinner so all and all we had a very nice Figaro day and are looking forward to 2025!
