Security – How to review and upgrade your alarm
You can buy 4 stickers for just £3.30! At least it might deter someone from stealing the car.
Compared with the cars of today, the Nissan Figaro is an extremely easy car to break into and steal.
It doesn’t take too much imagination to consider that not everything you see for sale on auction websites has been honestly acquired by the seller. The growth of the internet has made it easier than ever to sell Figaro parts with little or no traceability.
In addition to cars being stolen for resale, we have a theory here at the club that the high cost of Figaro parts has led to vehicles being targeted by gangs and broken for parts.

They identify the car, turn up with a trailer in the middle of the night and within minutes it’s gone. The car is then taken to a secret holding area where it’s stripped for the parts that are sold online. What remains is then taken to a breakers yard where no questions are asked.
Make sure you sort an alarm out ASAP
We recommend a very minimum of fitting an Immobiliser and if you can afford it, a GPS tracker too. Whilst you are organising this, as a deterrent we recommend purchasing a set of stickers like the ones below. They are only £3.30 for a set of 4 and sticking these in each window will hopefully help!
Steering Lock – from £25
A Steering Lock is a great item to attach if you are leaving your car in say a car park. It is a simple design and can be stored easily in the lower boot. It creates a real visual deterrent to anyone thinking of stealing the car. But of course, the car can still be towed away or placed on a low-loader!

As a minimum, we recommend:
- Fit an Immobiliser as a minimum!
The Figaro is one of the easiest cars to open. As a minimum, we strongly recommend having an Immobiliser fitted. See more details and pricing below. Once fitted notify your Insurance company as this may allow for a lower premium. - Always use a THATCHAM-approved alarm (UK Only)
We would always recommend fitting an alarm which is THATCHAM APPROVED ALARM and use a THATCHAM RECOGNISED INSTALLER which means the product and company have been independently accessed and meet stringent security measures. - Read our Security Guide below

Physical Security Options
Secure Clarion CD/Radio
Original CD units in Figaros are particularly vulnerable. There’s a sizeable demand for units and in particular, those that have been reconditioned or upgraded by Clarion. It takes literally a few seconds for a thief to remove a Figaro CD unit using an electric screwdriver! We recommend replacing the 4 cradle mounting screws with tamper-proof screws.

Fit a Steering Wheel Lock
A steering wheel lock is easy-to-fit, since it’s just a ‘pull to expand’ into the gap of your steering wheel. The soft plastic coating prevents any damage or scratches to the steering wheel and the red colour is highly visible and a great deterrent.
