Club Virage Beccles Aerodrome – Sunday 8th September 2024
Words and pictures by Eastern Chapter Coordinator Adam Woods
The great thing about a “Figgy’s and Chat” is that it’s just a meet-up somewhere interesting or different, and chat. It’s worked so well this year as members just value the time to share stories and challenges.
Of course, as challenges go, meeting other Figgy Folk is always a privilege. New folk we hadn’t met until that day, or those we have laughed with many times before, the one thing that binds us all is that there are always new things to learn whether you have owned the car for 2 months or 12 years!
What’s also really lovely is to see how members make the cars their own with an assortment of toys and a monkey who kept popping up here and there! We were also very lucky to see Martin’s craftsmanship having made a beautiful luggage rack and now his very own strut brace. Things of real beauty.
Other joys to share… Keith and Kay had gotten married since we last saw them – massive congrats!! And we were all a bit stunned when Steve and Christine blagged themselves a plane ride!!
In other news, sadly a couple of members’ cars couldn’t make it! Some say this may have been due to the cars being unavoidably detained against their will … while others might say they were having an extended holiday away while getting some surgery! But all we know for sure was that those owners came along anyway, Figless, but enjoying the chit-chat and Figgy vibe! In fact, JJ seemed to be particularly pleased driving a pink Fiat 500 substitute car!
And on that bombshell, we reflect on another lovely day with Figgy friends old and new, and can’t help but look forward to catching up again at the next events coming up – including a Vineyard in Essex, Afternoon Tea on the South Downs… and of course a visit to the iconic Ace Cafe London.
