Door Locks – How to open the door when the lock appears to be jammed
One of the common issues with the Figaro, especially if the car has not been used for a while is opening the door after inserting and turning the key. In this Video, club founder Kevin shows you what’s going on by demonstrating it on a lock outside the car.
HELP, I CANNOT OPEN MY DOOR!
If you have shut the door and locked the car but then you cannot open it, this is usually due to the trigger lever within the handle becoming stuck inside the handle. This can happen over time as dirt enters the space between the trigger lever and the handle. In addition, the returning spring mechanism which pulls the lever back can become rusted and will not work correctly. Kevin shows you how to release the trigger lever by applying oil and ‘working’ the lever until it springs back to its correct position. Once it has sprung back to this position you can open the door.
HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR LOCKS
It is worth checking that the trigger levers on both handles are moving well. We recommend opening the door, removing the access grommet and with a torch try to spray oil onto the inside of the lock mechanism whilst pressing the trigger lever.
FURTHER INFORMATION
We have created another video which shows you how to remove the door card and access the nuts to remove the handle assembly. See below
