Lighting – Fog Light Options

When the car was manufactured back in 1991 a Fog Light was not included and this was because the Figaro was only ever intended for sale in Japan and at the time legislation did not require Nissan to fit one. At the time of Importing the car, to allow it be driven in Europe (but strangely not the USA) it would require a Fog Light to be fitted.

There were typically three different configurations to fit the lights and our latest webpage explains in detail all three.

OPTION 1 – FIT SWITCH AND REPLACE CLEAR REVERSING BULB WITH RED BULB

Fit a small black rocker switch (with red light) which works when you turn on the lights. The switch is normally located to the left or right of the aerial and heated rear window heater switch. As the Figaro came with two reversing lights either side of the number plate, a red bulb is installed in place of the clear bulb. The wiring then needs to be changed to ensure the bulb turns on when the lights and switched on and the new switch is depressed.

OPTION 2 – FIT SWITCH AND FIT RED FOG LENS TAPE OVER CLEAR REVERSING LENS

Fit a small black rocker switch (with red light) which works when you turn on the lights. The switch is normally located to the left or right of the aerial and heated rear window heater switch. As the Figaro came with two reversing lights either side of the number plate you can use one of them as the fog light but you will need to apply red fog lens tape within the lens. The wiring then needs to be changed to ensure the bulb turns on when the lights and switched on and the new switch is depressed.

OPTION 3 – FIT SWITCH AND FOG LIGHT TO REAR BUMPER

Fit a small black rocker switch (with red light) which works when you turn on the lights. The switch is normally located to the left or right of the aerial and heated rear window heater switch. . The wiring then needs to be changed to ensure the bulb turns on when the lights and switched on and the new switch is depressed.

Club member Dave Smith upgrade his fog light. The car had plastic existing film but this faded so he found this spray on eBay, masked the area and spayed the light.
