Manufacture – A look at the original clay Figaro model

Above is the actual ‘selected’ full size model of the Figaro created back in 1989. To get to this stage, ten 1/4 scale clay models were produced by a design team. Then, out of the ten, two were shortlisted. The car below was the winner and went into production.

BELOW Strangely, this rear boot looks to have more room but none for the roof! The lower boot must have been just around the corner? 

BELOW The Nissan design team of the Figaro was tiny compared with today. Stood by what we believe is the first working prototype
